La Piccola - Private Room with Hotel-Style Comfort

Positive: The experience in «Hotel Room - Centrum Ghent Leie» was not a good one. 1. Early in the afternoon on June 2nd, we (me and my wife) arrived at the address clearly expressed in Booking Confirmation number 5630.833.770: Ajuinlei 12, 9000 Ghent, Belgium. And rang the bell a couple of times. 2. As nobody answered, we were puzzled because the accommodation was named «Hotel Room - Centrum Ghent Leie». We thought that it was an hotel and a receptionist would exist to open the door. 3. Suddenly, from the street came this young woman who opened the door and whom we asked whether she was opening for us too. She answered saying that it was her own private home. When we showed her the «Booking Confirmation», she was surprised and said that, in fact, it was not the first time she was seeing such confusion. 4. For a while, we were facing a non-existing lodgement that we had previously paid for. What should we think of Booking of which we had previous good experiences with? Despite the cold falling rain, heat was rising on us… Negative: 5. We then cooled down and decided to call the number provided. Miss Laura answered, but the conversation only became clear when we used the WhatsApp. We were told that the address was in fact Ajuinlei 16 (not 12) and that we had a city tax debt of 44,40 euros that we had to pay beforehand by bank transfer. It was claimed that I had received that instruction shortly before - and that is true, but I did not have good access to email to be aware of that. 6. Never had we been in such a confusion and odd request. Indeed, upon registering we were used to pay the tax at the reception before departing. The conversation with Miss Laura was cordial; she understood that we could not stay out in the rain and, therefore, provided us with a code number to the street door and room door. 7. We finally accommodated on the 3rd floor in a fair clean room. Then, I went to settle the bank transfer but was not sure whether it completed or not. I called my account manager, but she was on vacation. After I made Miss Laura aware of these uncertainties, she suggested to pay cash at the restaurant localized on the ground floor of the building. However, I didn´t do it and that was the right decision. In fact, I realized that such transfer had been processed on May 31st, that is, two days before we arrived in Ghent. There was no debt at all!. 8. In the rest of the stay, there were no more mishappens, except the recommendation to collect the garbage in a bag and leave it at the entrance (!?). 9. So, we were wrongly addressed to a lodgement with a deceptive name and we were wrongly persuaded to pay something that was settled well before !. Isn´t this quite irregular, to say the absolute minimum? Is this acceptable? I repeat my first sentence: The experience in «Hotel Room - Centrum Ghent Leie» was not a good one. I used these 2 comments boxes because I did not find a straightforward way to present this occurrence.

Positive: L'emplacement est parfait et l'équipement de la chambre est comme neuf

Potete migliorare!! Positive: La posizione è eccezionale, si raggiunge il centro storico in pochi minuti, l’arredo della stanza è nuovo e molto comodo Negative: Il numero civico è 16 e non 12, non è piacevole bussare ad una porta sbagliata che è pure chiusa quando si arriva. All’ingresso c’è un grande buco al posto dello zerbino. L’ascensore sembra un montacarichi senza la porta. Gli asciugamani grandi erano pieni di macchie scure. Il check out alle 10 è scomodo

Tutto perfetto. Positive: La posizione é fantastica. Gli interni sono moderni e impeccabilmente puliti, il gestore é molto presente, attento ed efficiente. inoltre, al piano terra c'é un ristorante eccellente. Che dire? Tutto perfetto

Toplocatie, netjes en schoon! Positive: Locatie, netjes en schoon. Van tevoren een folder met informatie is erg handig. We waren er net voor de Kerst. Gent is een mooi stadje met leuke winkels en restaurants. Kerstmarkt is ook een aanrader. Negative: Tip: twee haakjes achter de deur voor de jassen. Het adres aan laten passen bij Booking. Deze staat nu op nr. 12, maar de accommodatie is op nr. 16. Dit geeft verwarring om de witte voordeur te vinden. Nieuwe deurmat bij de witte voordeur, nu heb je een heel gat bij binnenkomst.
